What is StoopFest?
StoopFest is a vibrant new music event designed to bring the South Boston community together
while supporting local businesses. This family-friendly, walkable event features live music
performances at various venues across the west side of South Boston.
When and where is StoopFest happening?
StoopFest is scheduled for May 31. Performances will take place at various locations, including
local businesses, churches, the Boys & Girls Club, South Boston NDC properties, and even
private stoops.
What makes StoopFest different from other music events?
Unlike traditional "porch fests," StoopFest reflects South Boston’s unique personality by
transforming familiar neighborhood spots into stages. The event emphasizes community spirit,
grassroots organizing, and a celebration of local culture.
Who is organizing StoopFest?
StoopFest is a collaborative effort by the South Boston NDC and the South Boston Chamber of
Commerce. The event is volunteer-driven and relies on grassroots efforts to bring it to life.
What can attendees expect?
Attendees can enjoy:
- Live music from a mix of performers, including children’s groups and professional musicians.
- A walkable route connecting performance locations, from West Broadway to areas on Old Colony and Dorchester Street.
- A rain-or-shine celebration of community, music, and local businesses.
How many performance locations will there be?
The first year’s goal is to feature 10–12 performance locations, providing stopping points for
attendees along a walkable route.
How can I participate in StoopFest?
There are several ways to get involved:
- Musicians: Donate your time and talent to perform at the event.
- Hosts: Offer your stoop, business, or another creative space as a performance location. Volunteers: Help with organizing, promotion, or logistics.
- Attendees: Come enjoy the music, explore the neighborhood, and support local businesses.
How will StoopFest support the local business community?
By hosting performances at local businesses and inviting the community to explore the
neighborhood, StoopFest aims to boost foot traffic and promote economic growth in South
Boston.
Who designed the StoopFest logo?
Local artist Maureen Garrity generously designed the logo pro bono.
How will StoopFest be promoted?
Promotion will rely heavily on social media and outreach through local networks. Stay tuned for
updates and announcements on South Boston NDC’s platforms.
Is StoopFest an ongoing event?
StoopFest is currently an experiment. Organizers hope the inaugural event will inspire future
growth and become a beloved annual tradition for the South Boston community.
